Registered Nurse – Operating Room Circulator

Sitka, AK | Acute Care

Full-Time | Permanent | Days | Onsite | On-Call Required

• Coordinate perioperative workflow outside the sterile field by preparing the patient, verifying documentation, ensuring equipment readiness, and completing surgical safety checklists.
• Serve as the patient's advocate throughout the surgical experience, maintaining situational awareness and facilitating communication among the surgical team.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and implement and evaluate nursing interventions across the perioperative continuum.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition with appropriate escalation of care.
• Document assessments, intraoperative events, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
• Participate in on-call coverage to support urgent and emergent surgical cases.

• Associate's degree or higher in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association required at time of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association required (experienced nurses must provide evidence of current certification at time of hire; new graduates and nurses new to specialty must obtain within six months of hire).
• High-Risk Competency validation required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.
• Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.

• Prior experience in an operating room or perioperative nursing setting.
• Familiarity with sterile field protocols, surgical instrumentation, and intraoperative documentation.
• Experience working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary clinical environment.
• Proficiency with electronic health record systems in a clinical setting.
