Key Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive patient assessments across the lifespan and develop individualized plans of care for patients presenting with emergent or urgent conditions in a high-acuity environment.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders; recognize and respond to changes in patient condition including trauma, medical emergencies, and disaster situations.
- Exercise independent nursing judgment to determine appropriate interventions, priorities, and when escalation to a licensed independent provider is required.
- Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and ensure continuity of services.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic health record.
- Participate in quality and performance improvement activities; maintain all required competencies and certifications, including High-Risk Competency validation annually. On-call may be required.
- Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association, required at time of hire.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required (experienced nurses must provide evidence of current certifications at time of hire; new graduates and nurses new to the specialty must obtain within six months of hire).
- Clinical competency validation required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter;
High-Risk Competency required within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter. - Proficiency with electronic health records and clinical systems; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification preferred.
- Prior experience in an emergency department or high-acuity clinical setting.
- Strong clinical judgment with demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients simultaneously.
