Bakery Clerk

Role Description

Bakery Clerks label, stock and merchandise prepared baked goods and bread. This role includes ordering products for optimal sales and minimum shrink and participating in the clean‑up, set‑up and closing tasks as necessary for the store’s upkeep.

• Reworks product displays to assess order quantities and rotates product.
• Determines merchandising plan, product selection, and order quantities to optimize sales.
• Labels product with expiration dates according to manufacturer and company guidelines.
• Determines product quality for mark‑downs and culling to optimize quality and minimize shrink.
• Stores and rotates stock.
• Packages, wraps, weighs, and labels product for sale according to company and regulatory agency guidelines.
• Follows safety and security procedures.
• Provides prompt and courteous customer service, including special orders and customer requests.
• Operates manual pallet jack, wheeled carts, trash compactor, cardboard baler, product marking gun, shrink wrap machine, scale, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, box knife, and fax machine.
• Occasionally operates cash register, handheld scanners, computer, phone, printer.

• A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Ordering Experience Preferred.

• Automatic raise of $1.00/hr every 1,040 hours worked; auto raises will be provided based on straight‑time hours worked until top of pay scale is reached.

Days needed:
Monday–Sunday – weekends are required. Shifts needed: 6:30am-12pm or 1pm-6pm.

Work is performed in a store setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders, frequently lift/carry up to 40 pounds below waist, up to 40 pounds at waist/chest and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
