JOB SUMMARY

The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for performing the full range of journey‑level electrical duties including the installation and maintenance of industrial electrical systems. This position works with high and low voltage systems and performs all work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC). This position is also responsible for testing, installation, calibration (pressure, temperature, flow and level control), repair, and inspection of manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES
  • Perform maintenance and repair on industrial generators, gas turbine auxiliary systems, motors, switch gear, transformers, protective relays, fire/gas detection systems, fire suppression systems, battery chargers, uninterruptible power supplies, variable speed drives, heat trace systems, emergency lighting, HVAC, overhead power line switching and any other related electrical maintenance activities on facilities.
  • Be familiar with and able to perform maintenance and calibration on General Monitors, SE Electronics Gas Detectors, Det‑Tronics Triple IR Detectors, Pyrotronics, System 3, and AE Solutions Fire Panels.
  • Be familiar with and able to perform maintenance and troubleshooting on 480 VAC, 5 KV, 15 KV Air Circuit Breakers, Power Vac 5 KV and 34.5 KV Vacuum Breakers, and Cutler Hammer and Allen Bradley 480 V MCC Breakers.
  • Review conduit drawings, schematics, and electrical drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
  • Install, repair, and maintain breaker boxes, electrical outlets, light switches, lighting fixtures, electrical wiring, fuses, and other components of electrical systems.
  • Operate electrical equipment and tools such as hydraulic benders, knockout punch sets, cable pullers, volt meters, and testers.
  • Inspect, isolate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments.
  • Test electrical equipment for safety and efficiency.
  • Plan the layout and wiring of new or modified installations.
  • Estimate cost, time, and materials for electrical projects.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of electrical parts, equipment, and related manuals.
  • Prepare reports and conduct safety audits as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have an in‑depth background and understanding of classified and zone‑rated electrical systems.
  • Maintain a strong mathematical and computer skill set as well as an in‑depth knowledge of PLC systems.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require.
  • Comply with company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero‑incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of an accepted training program.
  • Minimum of four (4) years or 8,000 hours related experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in a maintenance role in an oil & gas field.
  • State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness in appropriate classification required.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Driver license required.
  • Current NFPA 70E Certification required or must be able to obtain if employed.
  • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification required.
