Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Stillpoint Lodge is growing and so is our staff!
We are seeking an additional seasonal maintenance‑focused team member with an in‑depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and marine related systems. Stillpoint is a remote lodge not connected to the road system and that means that we have to be self‑sufficient and we cannot call a handyman when something goes wrong or breaks.
The individual who will thrive in this position is a natural go‑getter, well organized, and can act as an experienced handyman when it comes to our property. They have the ability to focus on the task at hand as well as keep track of the overall picture, prioritize tasks, accept help from others, work as a team, and finish a job to completion.
There will be little down time as there is always something to do, maintain, repair, or improve. The season begins with de‑winterizing the lodge property and vehicles. The season ends when the lodge and vehicles are winterized. Typically May through September, with the possibility of becoming a year‑round arrangement.
This job is not for everyone and takes an individual with an incredibly positive attitude and a solid grasp on common‑sense logical thinking. Being able to see the big picture is a must. We are happy to teach and learn together for the right person but all applicants MUST have some prior experience. Stillpoint maintains a team‑oriented approach and working well with others is a requirement.
We are NOT looking for someone that is set in their ways or cannot work well with others, those that have little or no experience in maintaining large properties. Those with preset negative sentiments towards the world or others need not apply.
Room and board is provided as part of compensation, pay depends on experience and work ethic. There is room to grow, we bonus well for work ethic and great attitudes. More details to be discussed with interview.
Stillpoint maintains but is not limited to the following systems:
- Water Treatment Plants
- Waste‑Water Treatment Plants (yes, that means poop)
- Back‑up Generator for Facility power (We have primary shore power)
- On‑demand hot water heaters
- Diesel cabin heaters (Toyostoves)
- Diesel Boilers and Hot Water Generators
- Diesel Fuel Storage
- Assortment of Gas ATVs, golf carts
- Bobcat
- Bulldozer
- Electric Golf Carts
- Several Chevy Suburbans
- Floating Staff Houses/Dock Systems (28 foot tidal swings!!)
- Several 18-44 foot marine vessels.
- Wifi network comprised of miles of coaxial and Cat5e cables.
