Assists in the commercialization of new products through application of cost accounting methodology to R&D inputs, generates reports of cost variances of active products, and collaboratively works with the operations associates to drive efficiencies and cost reductions to bring added value to the team. Cost accountants should demonstrate solid organizational, communication, problem‑solving and research abilities.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Generate, maintain, and analyze Cost Sheets within Georgia Nut’s Commercialization flow.
  • Understand, identify, and quantify cost factors in the various production departments such as Throughput, Headcount, Changeover/Setup Time, MOQs, etc.
  • Collaborate with supply chain team members to align MOQ’s to control inventory aging.
  • Track Cost Of Goods Sold / standard variances monthly and work closely with management to determine opportunities to maximize profit and minimize waste.
  • Cross‑train with various Finance Department roles: A/P, A/R, Accounting, Systems Control, etc. to ensure coverage exists during absences and to strengthen career development.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting theory
  • Highly detail oriented and organized in work
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Adept at Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experienced with ERP software (preferably Dynamics 365)
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
  • Must have good math skills (must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with percentages using a calculator)
  • Must be able to convert weights between different units of measure such as pounds, ounces, grams, and kilograms
