About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to join Gordon Tax at our Skokie, IL office. Our clients include individuals and businesses with complex tax situations, many involving cryptocurrency and digital assets. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of at least five years in tax return drafting and reviewing, with a comprehensive understanding of both individual and business tax returns.

The Tax Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our clients' tax filings while managing a team of professionals. The Tax Manager will report directly to the company’s Tax Compliance Partner and work closely with clients, team members, and other departments to deliver exceptional tax services.

Responsibilities:

• Preparing and self-reviewing complex individual and business tax returns in Lacerte
• Oversight of junior tax return preparers including assisting in tax return drafting and review of
• Researching technical tax issues, including the treatment of cryptocurrency and digital asset transactions
• Acting as the primary client contact from document collection through filing, including keeping clients updated on return status
• Building customer relationships to promote and expand business

Qualifications:

• Proficiency in preparing individual and business tax returns (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, 990, 1041)
• At least five (5) years of experience preparing and reviewing returns
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience in Lacerte tax software is preferred
• Cryptocurrency or digital asset tax experience is a plus; we will train the right candidate
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and keep organized files for many clients at once
• Active CPA license, Enrolled Agent (EA) credential, or license to practice law required (CPA preferred)

• Typical salary: $100k to $150k based on experience
