Position SummaryThe X-Ray/MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality digital radiographic imaging and operating a low-field appendicular MRI scanner. This role supports orthopedic providers by ensuring efficient imaging workflows, maintaining equipment readiness, and contributing to broader medical group operations. MRI experience is preferred but on-the-job training is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities Digital X-Ray- Perform high-quality digital radiographic exams following physician orders and ALARA principles.
- Position patients properly to obtain optimal imaging results while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Verify patient identity and maintain accurate documentation within the EMR (Epic).
- Ensure all images are properly labeled, uploaded, and available for provider review.
- Maintain radiologic equipment, perform daily QC, and report issues promptly.
- Operate a low-tesla extremity MRI scanner (training provided).
- Screen patients for MRI safety and contraindications.
- Position and prepare patients for MRI studies.
- Ensure image quality meets diagnostic standards.
- Follow MRI workflow protocols and maintain safe operation of the scanner.
- Assist with patient flow and clinic operations as needed.
- Collaborate with orthopedic physicians, PAs/NPs, PTs, and front desk staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Participate in maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant clinical environment.
- Support the medical group with additional duties appropriate to the role (examples: helping room patients, supply restocking, assisting with scheduling or EMR tasks during slow imaging periods).
- Uphold HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
- ARRT(R) certification required upon hire.
- Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Radiologic Technologist license required or obtained prior to start date.
- MRI experience preferred but not required; willing to train.
- Previous orthopedic or outpatient clinic experience a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
