Full Time (32 hours per week) - Hours:
Monday 7:45 AM – 7:00 PM;
Tuesday–Friday 7:45 AM–5:00 PM; rotating weekends - Required travel to Glenbrook Hospital when needed
Hourly Pay Range $24.86 – $37.29 (determined by experience)
A Brief Overview
As an Ophthalmic Technician you assist ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals in diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions. You work in a state‑of‑the‑art facility and collaborate closely with the eye care team to deliver an excellent patient experience.
What You Will Do
- Perform preliminary eye examinations and assessments, including measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, pupil reactions, and visual field testing.
- Obtain detailed patient medical history, including eye‑related complaints, medications, and relevant health information.
- Administer specialized ophthalmic tests and procedures such as tonometry, keratometry, optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus photography, and pachymetry.
- Assist ophthalmologists during eye examinations, surgeries, and laser treatments, ensuring patients are comfortable and well‑informed.
- Educate patients on eye‑care procedures, pre‑operative and post‑operative instructions, and proper use of contact lenses or eyeglasses.
- Maintain accurate patient records, documenting assessments, test results, and treatment plans in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and ensure they are in proper working order.
- Assist in sterilization and preparation of surgical instruments and equipment for eye surgeries.
- Collaborate effectively with ophthalmologists, nurses, and other health‑care professionals to deliver comprehensive eye‑care services.
