Patient Service Representative and Insurance Verifier – Rehab Services – Days/Evenings
Location:
Skokie, IL
Full Time/Part Time:
Full time - 40 hours
Hours:
Rotating shift; M-Th 9:30am - 6pm, F 8am - 4:30pm
Salary: $19.89 - $28.84 per hour. Pay rate determined by expertise, years of experience, and other factors.
What You Will Do- Report to the Rehabilitation Service Manager and work with patients, their representatives, insurance carriers, and employers to determine benefits eligibility, pre-certify services, and verify benefits to ensure revenue reimbursement.
- Screen registration data for payer compliance, correct and update accounts, and bill to the appropriate party. Services include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy.
- Review and analyze required demographic, insurance/financial, and clinical data from patient intake and registration to expedite payment on accounts.
- Perform pre-certification notification via telephone or electronic means and gather/complete all required documentation for submission to insurance carriers per payer requirements.
- Research pre-certification denials (missing authorization, pre-certification, or referral documentation).
- Confirm referral requirements for individual plans and coordinate with referring physician offices to obtain referrals for all scheduled services, including additional office visits.
- Work from a task-based queue and maintain productivity levels as required by the Rehab Services department.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree in business or healthcare preferred. - Certification:
Valid driver’s license required if duties include off-site locations; maintain automobile liability coverage if using personal vehicle. - Experience:
1–2 years of registration, scheduling, or customer service experience in a healthcare setting preferred. - Skills:
Knowledge of health insurances, medical terminology, and anatomy preferred; strong data entry and keyboarding skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
