About the RoleAt CVS Health, pharmacy technicians support pharmacy teams to ensure efficient, safe prescription fulfillment and outstanding customer service. Technicians are often the first point of contact, creating personalized, compassionate experiences for patients and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to support pharmacists.
- Execute pharmacy workflow procedures at production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off stations.
- Provide empathic, personalized service to patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, returns, and bin inventories.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and high‑performance teamwork.
- Adapt to scheduling changes and travel to additional stores when needed.
- Comply with all federal, state, local laws, and CVS policies regarding controlled substances, privacy, and record‑keeping.
- Assist with patient health services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, off‑site clinic staffing) when certified and authorized.
- Obtain additional licensure and training to become Technician Immunizer.
- Educate patients on vaccine importance and refer to pharmacist for questions.
- Monitor and report adverse reactions.
- Collect and document patient information.
- Track and manage vaccine supplies.
- Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- At least 16 years of age if no state minimum age is specified.
- High school diploma, equivalent, or current enrollment in a high‑school program if no state minimum educational requirement is specified.
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Strong focus, attention to detail, and ability to pivot between tasks.
- Excellent customer service and teamwork skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Mathematical reasoning for prescription calculations.
- Problem‑resolution ability.
- Physical demands: mobile, lift up to 20 lbs, repetitive finger work, and other common tasks.
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market as needed.
- 1–3 years of pharmacy technician experience.
- Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Flexibility to work across multiple store locations.
