About

This Role

The Talent Development Manager is pivotal in shaping a positive employee journey and supporting the growth of our Talent team. You are a strategic HR generalist committed to building trust and delivering effective solutions. You connect authentically with employees at all levels, championing employee relations and well‑being, and ensuring our people strategies align with our mission. This role can be based in either our Skokie, IL or Kenosha, WI location, and will involve approximately 15% travel, primarily between our Northern IL and Southern WI locations but occasionally to other locations in North America.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with VP of Talent Development and other leadership to identify high‑potential talent and support recruiting, retention, and employee development initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and support to employees, fostering an inclusive and engaging work environment where every employee feels heard and valued.
  • Manage recruiter load amongst generalists and recruit for more complex or niche roles; ensure that job descriptions serve as marketing tools to attract key talent.
  • Demonstrate integrity by offering objective counsel and guidance, and by handling sensitive matters with discretion and appropriate transparency.
  • Develop and mentor direct reports (3 Generalists), cultivating a collaborative and growth‑oriented team culture.
  • Manage employee relations – both hands on and through mentoring direct reports – by resolving issues thoughtfully and proactively, ensuring outcomes that support both employee and organizational success.
  • Analyze and address process improvement opportunities, using problem‑solving skills to streamline and align processes that enhance the employee experience.
  • Partner with payroll and compensation manager to research and recommend competitive compensation strategies to attract, motivate, and retain top talent.
  • Implement impactful learning and development programs that empower employees to reach their full potential.
  • Oversee management of leaves of absence, ADA accommodations, and performance improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies, while balancing the employee perspective in decision‑making.
  • Oversee accurate data entry in HRIS systems and respond to multiple priorities with agility and precision.
  • Travel regularly between our Chicago‑area and Kenosha, WI locations, and occasionally to other North American sites to stay closely connected to our teams.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of human resources experience, with a focus on employee relations and executing HR strategies that drive engagement and results.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles of HR, L&D, and/or OD; including conflict resolution & employee relations, adult learning styles, and presentation skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, analytical, and mentoring skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical practices.
  • General proficiency in HRIS systems and MS Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a demonstrated employee focus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of Canadian employment law.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred;
    Canadian French a plus.
The salary range for this job is $90k to $110k
