Summary:The General Laborer will assist in all aspects of Infrastructure construction projects, working under the direction of the project foreman or superintendent. This role involves preparing job sites, handling construction materials, maintaining clean and organized work areas, assisting skilled tradespeople, and operating basic construction equipment. The ideal candidate is a team player with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
Responsibilities:Site Preparation & Cleanup:
- Assist in setting up and preparing construction sites, ensuring they are safe and organized.
- Remove debris, clean up materials, and maintain clear pathways for crews and equipment.
- Load, transport, and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Operate and maintain basic construction tools, including shovels, rakes, saws, drills, and compactors.
- Assist in the setup and dismantling of scaffolding, barricades, and temporary structures.
- Dig trenches, compact soil, and backfill excavated areas to support underground utility installations.
- Assist in the installation of underground pipes, storm drains, and water/sewer lines.
- Ensure trenches meet proper depth, slope, and safety requirements in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Assist in placing, leveling, and finishing concrete for sidewalks, curbs, foundations, and other structures.
- Help set up and remove concrete forms and ensure reinforcement placement is correct.
- Use hand trowels, screeds, and vibrators to achieve proper finish and compaction.
- Assist in layout and installation of walls, metal stud framing, millwork, and doors.
- Support carpenters in measuring, cutting, and assembling materials.
- Follow instructions from supervisors to ensure project tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Assist skilled tradespeople, including equipment operators, carpenters, and concrete finishers, in their daily work.
- Monitor site conditions and report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions.
- Education: High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Construction Knowledge: Basic understanding of construction methods, safety protocols, and use of tools.
- Experience: Prior experience working in civil construction, underground utilities, or concrete forming is highly preferred.
- Technical
Skills:- Ability to use measuring tape, power tools, and hand tools.
- Experience with forklifts, compactors, or small construction equipment is a plus.
- Familiarity with reading blueprints and construction plans is beneficial.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 90 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Frequent standing, kneeling, bending, climbing, and carrying heavy materials
. - Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
- Ability to maintain balance and coordination on uneven terrain.

Conditions:
