We are seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of projects, and is willing to travel extensively throughout the Southeast.
Position SummaryThe Traveling Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and supervision of commercial construction projects from mobilization through closeout. This role serves as the on-site leader, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Legacy's quality standards.
This position requires extensive travel and the ability to work away from home for extended periods as project needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all daily field operations on assigned projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspections, and deliveries.
- Maintain project schedules and proactively address delays.
- Enforce company safety policies and ensure jobsite compliance.
- Conduct daily site inspections and quality control reviews.
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Lead subcontractor meetings and coordinate project activities.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions with Project Managers and company leadership.
- Track manpower, productivity, and project milestones.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, photos, and punch lists.
- Ensure projects are completed to client expectations and company standards.
- 5+ years of Superintendent experience in commercial construction.
- Proven experience managing projects independently from start to finish.
- Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, scheduling, and sequencing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency with construction technology and project management software.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass background screening and drug testing.
- Extensive travel is required.
- Must be willing to travel throughout the Southeast and work away from home as needed.
- Overnight stays and extended project assignments should be expected.
- Restaurant, retail, fuel station, healthcare, or franchise construction experience.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working in occupied facilities and fast-track construction environments.
- Self-motivated and accountable.
- Able to solve problems without constant supervision.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
- Willing to travel where the work is.
- Committed to safety, quality, and professionalism.
- Focused on delivering successful projects while building strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.
