• Under close supervision and according to detailed instructions, the Retail Pharmacy Technician - Certified accurately processes orders and delivers medications to designated areas; refills and maintains automated dispensing machines; prices manual medication charges, inventories and reorders stock in the pharmacy; enters data into a computer system and prints labels as necessary; reviews physician s orders and enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system;
  
  identifies problems with orders and notifies pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information (e.g., allergies, height, weight) when needed.

Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5:50 PM

Required - High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred - 1 year hospital experience

Required - 1 year of college or completion of a para-professional pharmacy training program, or Certified Pharmacy Technician Licensure or National Certification

Preferred - Certified Pharmacy Technician License

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Skills to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment
• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Ensures customer service and teamwork while conducting responsibilities
• Fills medication orders, charges/credits all medication, stocks, delivers, and inspects assigned areas.
• Maintains competency in professional growth and responsibilities
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.

Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree;

or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

NOTE:

The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
