LPN - Rheumatology

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Ochsner Health, you provide direct patient care, including IV therapy, under the direction of a registered nurse, and support nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality personalized care.

• Provide patient care and administer IV therapy within the framework of the Licensed Practical Nurse Act.
• Direct and assist ancillary nursing staff with assigned duties.
• Apply the nursing process for patient care, including data gathering, planning and evaluation.
• Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the ages of patients served.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families and co‑workers to ensure a quality patient experience.
• Adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner throughout the day as unit or department needs change.
• Manage personal professional development and maintain required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training and credentials.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Education - High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience - None.

Certifications - Current licensed practical nursing (LPN) license in state of practice;
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association; preferred IV therapy credentials.

• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.

Heavy work:
Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Routine duties require exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area with possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous medications or hazardous waste.
