Pontchartrain Animal Hospital is seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team! Our kennel team plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our patients, clients, and staff.

In this position, you’ll primarily support the hospital through cleaning, sanitation, and patient care duties
, ensuring kennels, treatment areas, and common spaces remain spotless, organized, and well stocked. This role is perfect for someone who is self-driven, detail-oriented, enjoys staying busy, and takes pride in creating a welcoming environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with prior animal care experience who are excited to continue growing in the animal care field. We value reliability, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.

Schedule:
  • Flexible full-time or part-time position
  • 5/8 or 4/10 schedule options
  • Availability needed Monday–Friday with rotating weekend schedule (Saturday & Sunday)

Minimum Qualifications & Desired Skill Set
  • Previous kennel, animal care, or veterinary experience preferred
  • Comfortable working around dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with cleaning and sanitation
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Dependable, organized, and team-oriented
  • Comfortable administering medications (training available where appropriate)
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to patient care
Key Responsibilities
  • Daily care of boarding canine and feline patients, including feeding, walking, cleaning, and medicating
  • Maintaining cleanliness and proper sanitation of kennels and hospital areas
  • Safe patient handling and restraint
  • Monitoring pets for signs of illness, stress, or discomfort
  • Assisting technicians and veterinarians as needed
  • Accurate record-keeping and task management (electronic records transitioning soon)
  • Providing compassionate, attentive care to every patient
