This role is in Textron Systems’ Marine & Land Systems business area.
Position Summary:
A dedicated and adaptable Field Service Representative (FSR) with proven expertise in military ground vehicles. The FSR applies deep technical knowledge of vehicle systems to perform hands‑on repair, modification, and assembly of Land Systems platforms, supervise personnel, and support prototype builds, test events, field retrofits, customer demonstrations, and trade shows. The role requires extensive domestic (CONUS) and international (OCONUS) travel.
- Field Operations & Troubleshooting:
Perform repairs, modifications, and complete vehicle builds directly at customer locations. Conduct advanced mechanical, electrical, and automotive system troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on complex ground combat platforms. - Event & Lifecycle Support:
Support ground vehicle prototype builds, engineering test events, and field retrofits. Represent Textron Systems as a technical vehicle expert at customer demonstrations, operational touchpoints, and industry trade shows. - Cross‑Functional & Customer Engagement:
Serve as a primary technical interface, communicating effectively with diverse customer organizations and collaborating with internal engineering, PM, production, and procurement teams to drive platform solutions. - Training & Documentation:
Review, validate, and update technical vehicle manuals. Conduct hands‑on systems and platform training for customer operators and maintenance personnel. - Data & Configuration Management:
Generate and maintain data for Electronic Customer Service Request (ECRS) forms to track daily field operations. Review approved ECRs, DCRs, CICRs, EOs, and drawings to determine modification kit requirements and prepare associated paperwork. - Reporting:
Maintain tracking reports for warranty and modification kit control via Computerized Tracking Systems. Research data for vehicle service bulletins and assist in their drafting.
- Experience:
Technical training with 1 to 5+ years of proven, hands‑on experience focused specifically on military ground vehicles or heavy tactical platforms. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical, mechanical, and automotive systems in a production line or field operations environment. - Technical
Skills:
Deep understanding of military vehicle powertrains, suspensions, and integrated systems. Strong ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics, and effectively utilize diagnostic equipment used on modern tactical vehicles. - Communication:
Excellent written and oral communication skills with a proven ability to present technical vehicle information and status updates on a regular basis. - Travel:
Requires up to 100% travel. Must be willing and able to work extended hours and deploy on extended CONUS and OCONUS assignments to support customer tactical vehicle fleets. - Software Proficiency:
Proficient in MS Office suite, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word. - Certifications:
Must possess or be able to obtain a Level 1 PADI Certification.
- Military Background: US Army or USMC veterans with combat, maintenance, or Master Gunnery Sergeant experience operating, maintaining, or supporting ground combat vehicles are highly desired.
- Welding:
Aluminum and steel welding capability; ability to pass an in‑house weld certification is a strong plus. - Education:
Military‑related technical education and training on ground vehicle platforms is highly valued. - Associate degree in electrical, electronic, automotive, or mechanical disciplines preferred, but not required.
