Position Summary
Val Corp is seeking a dependable Ammunition Warehouse Specialist to support Ammunition Supply Point (ASP) warehousing, inventory, storage, issue, accountability, and documentation operations at Fort Polk, Louisiana. This position requires strict adherence to ammunition handling regulations, safety standards, SOPs, technical manuals, and established storage plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Issue, store, inventory, and maintain all ammunition and residue storage locations.
- Ensure all ammunition items are properly sealed to prevent pilferage.
- Inspect vehicles entering or exiting the ASP.
- Conduct 100% location surveys and 100% inventories.
- Comply with all published policies, procedures, and regulatory guidance for receipt, storage, issue, and disposition of ammunition.
- Perform accurate document editing and maintain all required ASP documentation.
- Update magazine data cards, ammunition store slips, storage planographs, and related records.
- Perform general housekeeping and maintenance inside and outside ASP facilities.
- Load and unload vehicles; operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) up to 10K and other warehouse equipment.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and Quality Assurance programs.
- Mentor and assist with on-the-job training and cross-training.
- Attend required training sessions and maintain all mandatory certifications.
- Comply with all company rules, policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Ensure accountability and proper care of all Government-Furnished and Contractor-Furnished Equipment (GFE/CFE).
- Interact professionally with internal and external customers.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One or more years of experience in storage or warehouse operations; ammunition or hazardous materials experience preferred.
- Must have ammunition handling experience, military or civilian equivalent.
- Must have or be able to pass DOD Introduction to Ammunition (Ammo-45).
- Must have or be able to pass DOD Hazmat General Awareness & Familiarization (Ammo-67).
- Must be able to complete and maintain all required ammunition training.
- Must have or be able to obtain MHE licenses/certifications.
- Must have a valid state driver's license.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must understand and be able to use Technical Manuals.
- Must be able to complete all ammunition-related documentation accurately.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ammunition accountability and documentation accuracy.
- ASP operations, storage planning, and inventory control.
- Safe operation of MHE and warehouse equipment.
- Professional communication with internal and external customers.
- Attention to detail, reliability, and safety-first work practices.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
- Must utilize proper lifting procedures and wear required PPE.
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Must be able to work under pressure and in strenuous conditions.
- Must be able to meet short suspense dates.
- Must be able to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, humidity, rain, and blowing dust.
- Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of stooping, climbing, standing, and sitting.
- May require shift work.
All Contractor personnel performing work under this contract must complete a favorable background investigation and be eligible to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC).
