Position Summary Information
Position Summary
Slippery Rock University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology beginning August 2026.
The faculty member's primary teaching responsibilities will include Human Anatomy and Physiology I & II. This individual will also be required to teach other introductory and advanced biology majors courses and non-majors biology courses for our general education program as needed. Additional teaching responsibilities may include courses in the faculty member's area of specialization. Preference will be given for individuals who can teach any combination of the following courses:
Zoology, Vertebrate Anatomy, Evolution, Microbiology, Biostatistics, Animal Physiology, Embryology, or Histology.
The department expects faculty will continue engaging in scholarly growth and professional development related to the applicant's area of expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
Broadly trained animal biologist, PhD in Biology or related field must be completed by July 1, 2026.
Commitment to the education of diverse populations.
Successful performance in an on-campus interview, including teaching and research presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
At least one year of undergraduate teaching experience, with evidence of teaching effectiveness. Experience teaching Anatomy and Physiology. Experience teaching in at least one additional area of biology, based on specialization. Preference will be given for individuals who can teach any combination of the following courses:
Zoology, Vertebrate Anatomy, Evolution, Microbiology, Biostatistics, Animal Physiology, Embryology, or Histology.
