Psychology Assistant Professor | Tenure Track Fall 2026 | I02441

The Psychology Program is seeking a full-time tenure‑track faculty member beginning August 2026 at the rank of Assistant Professor. The program is located in the College of Health Professions and offers undergraduate education in diverse health and mental health pathways. The department values interdisciplinary research, inclusive student engagement, and a commitment to service to diverse populations.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will have a 4/4 undergraduate teaching load that may include Introduction to Psychology, Personality, Abnormal Psychology, Psychopathology of Childhood and Adolescence, Psychopathology of Adulthood, Clinical Psychology, Psychological Testing, Theories of Counseling, Field Placement and Community Service Internship, and other courses as assigned. Faculty members are encouraged to align teaching, research, and service activities with their interests and professional goals.

Interdisciplinary collaboration and partnership opportunities are available at the department, college, university, and community levels.

Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.

    D.) required; ABD applications are encouraged; the Ph.D. or Psy.

    D. must be completed by August 1, 2026.
  • Ability to establish an active research program and commitment to mentoring undergraduate students in research.
  • Commitment to the education of diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated service to department and university.
  • Experience implementing APA‑style writing across the curriculum.
  • On‑campus interview, research presentation, and teaching demonstration on a topic area chosen by the search committee required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • University‑level teaching experience, especially for face‑to‑face classes and formal training in higher education teaching.
  • Specific experience teaching the courses listed under responsibilities.
  • Graduate‑level coursework in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • Experience or knowledge related to interprofessional education preparing undergraduate students for future careers in the health and/or mental health care fields.
Background Checks

Recommended candidates will be required to complete criminal background checks, including Act 34 Background Check, Act 151 (Child Abuse) Background Check, and Federal Criminal (FBI) clearance prior to appointment.
