Responsible for the instruction and care of assigned students, creating classroom environments conducive to effective learning, while maintaining commitment to NCS's mission, vision, curriculum standards, and instructional excellence.

• Explain complex concepts in an understandable way, using a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
• Engage with parents/guardians to keep them informed about student progress, successes, and areas of improvement.
• Remain current on educational research, teaching strategies, and subject knowledge through participation in ongoing learning and professional development.
• Assess student performance through various methods and provide meaningful feedback that helps students grow.
• Ensure equal access for all students to have opportunities, support, and resources, and address any disparities that may arise.
• Foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students, preparing them for current and future challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
• Set and maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for all students, encouraging them to reach their full potential.
• Foster a collaborative spirit with fellow teachers by sharing strategies, resources, and insights to improve student outcomes.
• Demonstrate integrity, empathy, and fairness by treating all students and colleagues with respect and kindness.

• Design and deliver instructional lessons to meet curriculum requirements.
• Provide planned learning experiences that encourage and motivate students, utilize best practices, and are developmentally appropriate.
• Develop and submit current lesson plans (daily and/or weekly) and instructional materials that provide personalized and small group instruction in order to adapt instructional strategies to meet the needs of each student.
• Utilize appropriate school-approved instructional material, aids, and supplies with fidelity that assist in the development of innovative, well-organized units of study, and that are appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students from varied backgrounds and who possess a range of mental and emotional maturity.
• Identify, record, and reflect on student needs and cooperate with the professional learning community (PLC) to assess, plan, monitor and implement methods to solve student health, attitude and learning issues.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to deliver high-level, rigorous, and individualized learning experiences for all students.
• Cooperatively pursue alternative solutions to ameliorate student learning problems, and to enhance academic, social, and emotional growth opportunities.
• Implement school-approved LMS (ie. CANVAS) and technology platforms to support and enhance instruction.

• Establish and maintain high standards of student behavior needed to achieve an optimal learning atmosphere inside and outside of the classroom, aligned to NCS’s portrait of a Cougar.
• Provide a functional, orderly, tidy, and engaging classroom environment conducive for learning and curriculum alignment.
• Plan and coordinate with aides, instructional assistants, parent volunteers, substitutes, and other paraprofessionals as appropriate.

• Prepare and administer assessments (i.e., formative, summative, performance-based) and score, document, and report results with a focus on mastery.
• Administer school-approved standardized assessments/tests in accordance with state regulations and analyze and utilize results effectively to support positive student growth.
• Evaluate students’ academic and social growth using a variety of data sources, maintain appropriate and accurate records, prepare student reports, and communicate with parents regarding their students’ progress as required by applicable laws and policies.
• Understand and implement the MTSS process with fidelity.

• Effectively communicate and collaborate with families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student learning and progress.
• Actively participate in department, school-wide, and family meetings, curriculum mapping exercises, lesson plan development, training, professional development, and other related projects as required.
• Actively participate in grade-level and/or department-wide PLC(s).
• Oversee proper stewardship of school resources and management of student records in accordance with FERPA and IDEA.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and deliver reports in an accurate and timely manner.
• Supervise students in extra-curricular activities as assigned, including morning and afternoon carpool duty, lunch duty, game day coverage, and other reasonable requests and appropriate directives as assigned by administration.
• Share in the advisement/sponsorship of student activities and clubs, and participate in faculty committees as assigned.
