Position: FT Instructional Technologies Specialist II
Description

Summary

The Instructional Technologies Specialist II plays a key role in supporting the college's educational technology initiatives by providing technical support to students, faculty, and staff and assisting in the administration and maintenance of the Learning Management System (LMS) and the JOLT department.

Knowledge & Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Provide technical support and training to students, faculty, and staff on a variety of instructional technologies, including the LMS, instructional studio spaces, video conferencing software, and Microsoft products.

* Assist in the administration and maintenance of the college's Learning Management System (LMS) as needed.

* Collaborate with the campus community on instructional technology and administrative tasks.

* Responsible for assisting the student help desk functions by providing daily technical support.

* Provide support in the administration and operation of the learning management system.

* Create reports and documentation as needed.

* Manage a variety of diverse projects, attending to detail, accuracy, and deadlines.

* Provide excellent customer service to all faculty, staff, students, and external contacts.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Receives direction from the Director of eLearning

Education Minimum:
Associate's degree in Digital Media Technology, Information Technology, Instructional Technology, or related field.

Education Preferred:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Digital Media Technology, Information Technology, Instructional Design, or a related field

.Experience Minimum:

* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, LMS software (preferably Canvas), and video conferencing software.

* One year of experience using an LMS in a student, faculty, and/or administrator capacity.

* Three years of experience providing customer service.

* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to work effectively with clients.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience Preferred

* One year of experience using Canvas in a student, faculty, and/or administrator capacity.

* Five years of experience providing technical support to students, faculty, or staff.

* Experience with instructional technology equipment, such as projectors, sound systems, and mobile carts.

* Four (4) to six (6) years of higher education experience, specifically with distance education

* Experience with LMS administration, including SIS integration, data loads, 3rd party publisher integration, and archiving courses.

* North Carolina community college experience.

Additional Information

Language Skills

* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

* Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and interest.

Reasoning Ability

* Functional Reasoning:
Requires the ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership. Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

* Situational Reasoning:
Requires the ability to exercise the judgment, decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the direction, control and planning of a project.

Computer Skills

* Canvas Learn LMS or Canvas LMS experience.

* Proficiency in the use of Microsoft 365 applications.

* Knowledge of SQL preferred.

* Knowledge of Tableau/Power

BI and database query preferred.

Equipment, Machinery, Tools, and Materials Utilization

* Ability to use, operate, and/or handle office equipment, such as a computer and printer, copier, calculator, and communications equipment.
