Description: This position provides oversight for the tracking and accounting of district technology assets. Key duties include ensuring account creation and management of district technology resource management systems, managing school‑level IT allotments and deployments, providing oversight and support with district and site inventories, providing data to support technology‑related purchases, conducting school‑based IT audits, and serving as a liaison between the schools and the technology teams.
The candidate will work with sites to ensure schools conduct inventories following best practices and track all technology assets including, but not limited to, PC workstations, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, interactive panels, switches, routers, and other computer and instructional equipment. The manager will provide insight on JCPS IT Asset Management life cycle, including inventory management, analysis, disposition, and reporting.
- Use asset accountability and tracking, inventory, and project management best practices to maintain JCPS technology inventories.
- Oversee inventory control and assignment of incoming equipment and supplies, ensuring an accurate computerized inventory of all technology fixed assets in compliance with state, federal, and administrative regulations.
- Process requests and related documentation to maintain an accurate computerized inventory of technology fixed assets.
- Assist with inventory management, procurement, and shipment activities.
- Assist sites to reconcile physical inventory and investigate inconsistencies.
- Ensure old assets are disposed of following internal workflows and legal procedures.
- Develop and maintain office and site processes and policies for assets.
- Organize and maintain technology asset management plans and documents in Google Drive.
- Maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field.
- Read and apply policies and procedures.
- Utilize the JCPS technology support system to receive requests, resolve incidents, and provide notations.
- Manage and monitor the district technology asset resource management system; troubleshoot account incidents and communicate corrective steps to stakeholders.
- Provide management, oversight, guidance, and support for technology asset inventories at district and site levels.
- Provide district guidelines, quotes, and support for all technology‑related purchases.
- Serve as a liaison between schools, support teams, and technology teams.
- Communicate with sites and vendors to provide and maintain current technologies to fit district needs.
- Provide office support to the supervisor and Technology Services department.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology or Business or equivalent training/experience.
- Ability to perform technical problem solving and data analysis for complex projects.
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
- Proficient with Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets and Excel.
- Strong knowledge of Gmail and Google Apps for Education.
- Ability to multi‑task and work independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with school staff and community.
- Experience collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, and preparing technical reports and recommendations.
- Problem‑solving and innovation skills.
- Expert Excel skills for analyzing large data sets.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self‑motivated, independent, with solid project management skills.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet schedules and deadlines.
- High school graduation plus college‑level coursework in business, project management, inventory control.
- Two years of experience in technology assets and/or inventory control, developing database reports, and using inventory tracking software.
- Experience in a warehouse environment or IT department highly desirable.
- Other combinations of education and experience that provide required knowledge and abilities may be considered.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license with no restrictions.
- Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull or move objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
- Consistent light to medium physical activity, including standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
