Overall ScopeThe Buyer makes sure production has what they need and when they need it to meet demand on-time.
Responsibilities- Purchase Order Execution:
Evaluate MRP suggestions, process requisitions, generate PO's with approved suppliers, schedule deliveries, and follow up to ensure on-time-delivery. - Inventory Control:
Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts while also avoiding obsolete, slow-moving, and excess inventory (OSMI). - ERP/MRP Maintenance:
Ensure all parameters that affect MRP are up-to-date and aligned with the strategic objectives of the value stream (MOQ, Fixed Lot Multiplier, Lead Times, Fixed Days Supply, Safety Stock, Forecast, Sourcing Assignments, etc.). - When MRP suggestions "don't make sense," troubleshoot why and then make the appropriate parameter adjustments.
- Supplier Relations:
Resolve day-to-day issues regarding delivery delays, pricing discrepancies, minor quality issues, etc. - Collaborate with Quality Engineers/Supplier Quality Engineers for more technical quality issues.
- Communicate rev changes to approved suppliers.
- Price Negotiation:
Secure competitive pricing and drive for best cost solutions. Negotiate routine price increases and elevate to strategic sourcing team when necessary.
- Manage daily order exceptions.
- Review cell pull demand report and MRP workbench to ensure that MRP planned orders are aligned with the production plan.
- Develop and drive solutions to supply issues through negotiation, escalation, and proposing supply chain alternatives.
- Ensure that all requirements, pricing, terms, conditions and expectations are clearly documented and acknowledged by the supply chain.
- Work with suppliers to institute and manage two bin Kanban Programs, Warehouse Distribution Models and VMI where needed. Ensure that these programs are designed to support designated product lines and operate efficiently.
- Create schedules to establish sequence and lead time of each operation and department to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts and customer orders as needed. Communicate accurate PO delivery dates and lead time updates to department stakeholders. Be prepared to provide updates to production on daily gemba walks.
- Work with production leads and supervisors to investigate and resolve discrepancies involving material replenishment, due dates, and capacity.
- Reconcile open order reports, discrete jobs, and outside process work orders on a regular basis.
- Assist Purchasing Manager in implementing material changes generated by Engineering Change Notices, and New Product Introductions.
- Maintain integrity of frozen costs for purchased items in ERP system.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects, and in some cases take the lead on projects.
- Help resolve AP issues and invoice discrepancies.

- Minimum
- Associates of Applied Science Degree and two-three years of direct tactical procurement experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, or equivalent education and work experience. (Bachelor's Degree preferred) - Proficiency in Microsoft Office…
