ADN holders qualify for up to $16,000 or $12,000 incentives, or up to $25,000 loan forgiveness. Additionally, eligible for up to $4,500 in relocation assistance and employee referral incentives.
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Unit OverviewThird Floor Johnston Health, Smithfield is a 33‑bed Medical‑Surgical Unit that primarily serves medical patients. Pediatric patients may be seen for overnight observation. Nurses gain exposure to wound care, wound VAC care, tube feedings, tracheostomies, and care for patients with conditions such as pneumonia, congestive heart failure, abdominal pain, altered mental status, COPD, hypertension, hypotension, diabetes, and shortness of breath.
ScheduleFull‑time: 3 12‑hour shifts. Standard shifts are 0645‑1915 and 1845‑0715, with every other weekend. Holidays rotate among staff. Each shift is staffed with a charge nurse and nurses are paired with a NA teammate. Nurse‑to‑patient ratios typically 1:5 or 1:6.
Responsibilities- Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs, attends education programs, and uses patient education materials.
- Identifies expected patient outcomes, revises plan of care with guidance, and communicates information to support continuity of care.
- Demonstrates competence with complex patient problems, performs bedside point‑of‑care testing, and follows organizational and nursing standards.
- Develops goals for professional growth, supports unit performance improvement, promotes cost‑effective care, and ensures a safe hospital environment.
- Recognizes data from complex situations, synthesizes assessment data, and anticipates discharge needs.
- Collaborates with patient/family to update plan of care, addresses cultural and ethnic issues, and prioritizes tasks for complex patients.
- Reads relevant journals and brings ideas to staff for assessment of applicability.
- Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
- One year of nursing experience.
