SummaryAn Advanced Practice Provider (APP) functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high‑quality, cost‑effective care to patients within the APP’s scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities- Clinical:
Obtain relevant health and medical history, perform thorough physical assessment, review and interpret diagnostic tests, develop differential diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medications in line with departmental guidelines, conduct preventive health screenings, maintain comprehensive records, and prioritize workflow to maintain high productivity. - Education:
Educate clients and families about medical conditions, treatments, and follow‑up; collaborate with clinicians, staff, and students to provide continuity of care; develop educational materials; provide instruction to physicians, residents, nursing, ancillaries, and students; recognize and pursue self‑learning needs; attend educational programs. - Leadership:
Provide instruction to physicians, residents, nursing, ancillaries, and students through precepting, lectures, training, CE, rounds, and staff meetings; participate in community outreach and system improvement initiatives; apply contextual knowledge to optimize health care delivery. - Professionalism:
Interact respectfully and timely with patients, families, and coworkers; respond to customer needs; accept responsibility for outcomes; share workload responsibilities with the team. - Quality/Research:
Engage in continuous quality improvement, consult with management on clinical and system issues, lead interdisciplinary teams for integrated patient care, update protocols and guidelines based on evidence, influence policy-making, and develop new clinical programs to improve patient care.
- Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
- Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse Midwife) in the state of North Carolina.
- Board certification if required by the Department.
- DEA registration.
- No prior experience required.
- Demonstrated clinical competency.
- Effective leadership skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Effective written and verbal communication, and strong analytical skills.
- Documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
