The Operating Room at UNC Health Johnston is looking for RN candidates with 1‑2 years OR experience. UNC Johnston has an innovative and efficient surgical program.

We perform both inpatient and outpatient procedures on adult and pediatric populations. The Nurses and Surgical Technologists provide intra‑operative care for a variety of service lines including Orthopedics, Ortho Spine, General, GYN, Robotics, Neuro, ENT, Vascular, Ophthalmology, and Endoscopy. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting, reporting to and being accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director.

• Education – Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs and uses patient education materials relevant to the patient population. Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers and developmental level of the patient and factors affecting ability to learn.
• Evaluation of Care – Identifies expected patient outcomes, seeks guidance as needed in revising the plan of care, participates in interdisciplinary discussion about patient care, and communicates relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation – Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, performs bedside point‑of‑care testing as required, utilizes nursing standards, policies and procedures, organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs, and consults with appropriate resources in a timely manner regarding high‑risk discharge planning.
• Leadership – With assistance, develops goals to promote professional growth, achieves objectives within identified time frames, participates in unit goal development and performance improvement, uses communication systems effectively, promotes cost‑effective care, provides feedback to co‑workers, and upholds a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
• Patient Assessment – Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, synthesizes assessment data into a meaningful whole, anticipates discharge needs, and builds relationships with families to empower their advocacy.
• Planning – Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care, utilizes multidisciplinary resources, and incorporates cultural and ethnic considerations.
• Research – Reads relevant journals and brings ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.

• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.

• Two (2) years of nursing experience.
