Job Description

The Tax Exempt Market (TEM) supports mission‑driven institutions—including major healthcare systems, colleges, and universities—by delivering retirement plan services that improve financial well‑being.

Strategic Partnership

In this role, you will work closely with TEM Product Leadership, Engineering, Distribution, Operations, and global partners to design, deliver, and support critical product capabilities across the TEM ecosystem.

The Role

As a Consultant, Business Analyst, you will drive complex product initiatives forward within the TEM Product Area. You will operate as an independent senior contributor with high autonomy, leading end‑to‑end business analysis across multi‑team epics and sub‑initiatives. Your responsibilities include translating complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements and partnering closely with Product, Distribution, Technology, and Operations teams. You are not expected to perform technical implementation;

however, you must be highly systems‑ and data‑literate to guide delivery and influence decisions.

Core Capabilities
  • Strategic curiosity & learning agility: quickly learn complex domains, challenge assumptions, and translate ambiguity into structured insight.
  • Initiative‑level problem structuring: break down multi‑team epics into clear components, dependencies, and risks to drive execution.
  • Agile & delivery leadership: lead epics and stories across squads, ensuring value‑based prioritization and consistent delivery.
  • Requirements & solution definition: drive discovery, define current and future states, and deliver high‑quality user stories and acceptance criteria.
Behavioral DNA
  • Highly collaborative & cross‑organizational mindset: proactively partner across TEM and other business units to identify stakeholders and build strong relationships.
  • Facilitation & alignment: lead working sessions, synthesize diverse inputs, and guide teams toward clear decisions and shared outcomes.
  • Ownership, accountability & adaptability: take end‑to‑end ownership of outcomes, navigate shifting priorities, and remain effective in a dynamic environment.
  • Systems, data & process thinking: connect systems, data, and processes to identify impacts and opportunities, while leveraging and adapting established best practices.
Value Delivered
  • Structured & organized execution: create and maintain clear artifacts—such as initiative mapping, requirements, and workflows—that bring transparency to high‑volume, complex work and enable others to engage effectively.
  • Operational readiness & continuous improvement: ensure downstream readiness while continuously improving processes by adopting and tailoring proven practices across business units.
  • Epic & initiative leadership: lead complex epics from discovery through go‑live, ensuring clarity, momentum, and execution excellence.
Experience & Background
  • 7+ years of experience supporting product development through strong business analysis in financial services, technology, or other regulated environments.
  • Ability to drive tactical initiatives through implementation of a product strategy/roadmap.
  • Self‑directed and motivated to stretch outside comfort zones and learn and apply new skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience leading epics or large initiatives in Agile environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across the organization and influence, negotiate, and engage effectively at all managerial levels.
