Smithfield High School educates the town’s students from grades nine through twelve. Our graduates possess a common core of knowledge and skills and develop as lifelong learners, analytical thinkers, effective communicators, and productive members of the global community. Through an adaptive and challenging learning environment, the administration, faculty and staff strive to meet the needs of every student. In addition to traditional coursework, SHS offers seven Career and Technical Pathway programs that offer embedded workplace learning, certifications, and credentials that allow our students to excel in life after high school.
At the heart of our educational community are Smithfield High School’s core values and beliefs. Our foundation lies in our core academic expectations, ensuring that each student is an effective communicator, a lifelong learner, a practical problem-solver, a responsible citizen, and an informed thinker. SHS works in conjunction with the family and community stakeholders to educate the whole child. Along with our strong academic curriculum and CTE Pathways, we provide various support services including mental specialists, behavioral health specialists, and guidance counselors.
SHS also offers extensive extra-curricular sports teams, clubs and organizations. We are very proud of the formation and successful implementation of our Unified Basketball team, which partners SHS students with and without intellectual disabilities.
Our primary focus is on creating an environment where students feel safe. We pride ourselves on building relationships with our students which in turn allows students to challenge themselves and meet with personal and academic success.
