Principal IT Data Analyst

Location:

Smithfield, RI (Onsite). Team:
Technology. Experience Level: Senior Manager.

Overview

Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model in phases by region and role. Onsite expectations may evolve as the rollout continues. This description reflects the responsibilities and qualifications for the Principal IT Data Analyst role.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and maintains curated data repositories for an enterprise analytics platform. Analyzes complex datasets from multiple sources (demographics and investments) using SQL, Python, and front-end analytics (Tableau).

  • Writes and updates design documentation using Confluence. Translates business requirements into technical solutions by developing complex software applications and studying alternatives.

  • Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development teams and management.

  • Recommends design changes to complex, interrelated systems to meet requirements, improve performance, or reduce total ownership costs.

  • Designs new systems based on requirements gathered during the analysis phase.

  • Mentors other analysts in documenting large and complex projects and monitors the quality and progress of documents.

  • Documents formal specifications describing solutions to meet requirements.

  • Analyzes data across transactional, data warehouse, and data lake environments and communicates findings to senior management.

  • Plans and designs computer systems using structured analysis, data modeling, and information engineering.

  • Develops, documents, and revises system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards. Consults with management to ensure agreement on system principles.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal IT Data Analyst performing data analysis, profiling, and modeling across Legal, Risk, & Compliance functions within the financial domain, using SQL, PL/SQL, and Python.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal IT Data Analyst performing data analysis, profiling, and modeling across Legal, Risk, & Compliance functions within the financial domain, using SQL, PL/SQL, and Python.

Skills and Knowledge

Candidate must also possess:

  • End-to-end data-driven solution design using SAP Power Designer; experience with AWS-S3, Kafka, Snowflake; SQL/PL/SQL; data modeling in Oracle, Snowflake, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

  • Data profiling frameworks using SQL and Python; end-to-end data analysis and sourcing using Oracle, Snowflake, ICEDQ; governance and dictionary data practices using Alation and Collibra.

  • Data movement for data warehouses/datalakes with ETL workflows using Informatica, Apache NiFi, or Control-M; code deployment with Github or Jenkins; testing and development of PL/SQL and Python code; optimized SQL queries and batch processes.

  • Data wrangling with Python, R, Alteryx, and Jupyter Notebook; data visualization with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel); development of ML models using AI/ML approaches in Python and R; experience with Agile methodologies (Jira) in a financial services compliance environment.
