Key Responsibilities
- Operate Material Handling Equipment:
- Must be certified in the material handler position.
- Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Slitting Machine Operation & Quality Control:
- Pull, inspect, and verify products before processing.
- Perform machine setups according to work order specifications.
- Ensure products meet specifications, record measurements, and follow written work instructions.
- Communicate with sales representatives regarding order adjustments or clarifications.
- Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non‑conforming materials.
- Maintenance & Safety:
- Perform equipment preventive maintenance and general cleanup.
- Maintain all measurement equipment in working condition.
- Properly operate weighing scales and record inspection measurements.
- Follow all safety guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
- Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Provide feedback on machine efficiency and product quality.
- Assist in lean and quality improvement activities.
- Train new team members as needed.
Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.
Now Hiring: Experienced Slitter Operator – 2nd Shift
Location:
Smithfield, RI
Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Pay: $21 - $23 per hour (Based on Experience)
- High School or GED (Minimum Education Required)
- Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry.
- Forklift experience required and must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Experience using hand‑held measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
- Computer literate—comfortable using technology in daily tasks.
- Strong safety‑first mindset.
