Machine Operator - Slitter Operator 2nd shift - Smithfield, RI

Key Responsibilities

• Operate Material Handling Equipment:
  • Must be certified in the material handler position.
  • Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Slitting Machine Operation & Quality Control:
  • Pull, inspect, and verify products before processing.
  • Perform machine setups according to work order specifications.
  • Ensure products meet specifications, record measurements, and follow written work instructions.
  • Communicate with sales representatives regarding order adjustments or clarifications.
  • Identify, record, and segregate scrap and non‑conforming materials.
• Maintenance & Safety:
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance and general cleanup.
  • Maintain all measurement equipment in working condition.
  • Properly operate weighing scales and record inspection measurements.
  • Follow all safety guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
• Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
  • Provide feedback on machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Assist in lean and quality improvement activities.
  • Train new team members as needed.

Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Now Hiring: Experienced Slitter Operator – 2nd Shift

Location:

Smithfield, RI

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Pay: $21 - $23 per hour (Based on Experience)

• High School or GED (Minimum Education Required)
• Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry.
• Forklift experience required and must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Experience using hand‑held measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
• Computer literate—comfortable using technology in daily tasks.
• Strong safety‑first mindset.
