Experienced Slitter Operator - 2nd Shift

Smithfield, RI

Monday - Friday, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

$21 - $23 per hour (Based on Experience)

Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

• Operate Material Handling Equipment: certified in material handler position; operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Slitting Machine Operation & Quality Control: pull, inspect, and verify products before processing; perform machine set-ups according to work order specifications; ensure products meet specifications, record measurements, and follow written work instructions; communicate with sales representatives regarding order adjustments or clarifications; identify, record, and segregate scrap and non-conforming materials.
• Maintenance & Safety: perform equipment preventive maintenance and general cleanup; maintain all measurement equipment in working condition; properly operate weighing scales and record inspection measurements; follow all safety guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
• Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: provide feedback on machine efficiency and product quality; assist in lean and quality improvement activities; train new team members as needed.

• Education:
  
  High school diploma/GED
• Skills & Experience:
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
  • Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry.
  • Forklift experience required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Experience using hand‑held measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
  • Computer literate – comfortable using technology in daily tasks.
  • Strong safety‑first mindset.
