The Catholic Outreach Coordinator is a member of the Campus Ministry team, who in collaboration with the Director of Campus Ministry and Catholic Chaplains, has primary responsibility for the coordination of program, activities, and services to promote Catholic Campus Ministry.
The Catholic Outreach Coordinator will provide learning and service opportunities that will enhance leadership and character development, expand understanding of spiritual growth, and provide a safe and welcoming home for worship, reflection and fellowship.
This position will require non-standard work hours, including some nights and weekends.
Principal Accountabilities- Plan and implement programs promoting understanding of Catholic faith.
- Develop and implement programs for student involvement in local service opportunities.
- Coordinate educational and spiritual development programs such as RCIA, retreats, pilgrimages, guest lectures, and rosary nights.
- Explore opportunities for alternative spring break service experiences or trips.
- Coordinate assessment of Christian Campus Ministry initiatives and work with the Stewardship Office to compile an annual report demonstrating funding and program impact.
- Work with the Catholic Chaplains to schedule, coordinate, and market weekly Mass.
- Communicate with and coordinate scheduling of Catholic Chaplains to meet University needs at annual events.
- Participate in university events, such as Orientation, Open House, Friends and Family Weekend, etc., to market and outreach about Catholic Ministry.
- Work collaboratively with the staff of Campus Ministry on programs with spiritual, social justice, and service orientation and attend Campus Ministry meetings.
- Coordinate and make logistical arrangements (reserve space, make A/V arrangements, etc.) for programs.
- Advise the Catholic Student Association student organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Qualities and Characteristics:
- Effective communication skills (listening, speaking and writing).
- High level of competence, judgement, and appropriate confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships and be a successful resource to the campus community.
- Open and responsive to direction and feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree (Religious Studies/Theology preferred) required.
- Practicing Roman Catholic knowledgeable about Catholic social teaching and liturgical practices.
- Experience coordinating mission trips, and/or community service projects is preferred.
- Knowledge of PC platform, Microsoft Office Suite to include desktop publishing, word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, and database management is preferred.
