The Customer Service Associate is responsible for providing exceptional service at the pastry counter, ensuring customers are informed about product details, availability, and pricing. This role involves taking orders, processing payments, maintaining product displays, rotating inventory, answering phones, and keeping the store area clean. The associate will also assist with packaging and managing the register while supporting a positive team culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Customer Interaction- Provide prompt, friendly, and efficient service to customers.
- Demonstrate superior customer service and a positive attitude to both customers and team members.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of product names, descriptions, prices, and availability to assist customers effectively.
- Upsell and recommend additional products to enhance customer experience while maintaining efficient service.
- Take accurate orders, ensuring clarity and attention to detail for customer satisfaction.
- Understand and manage all aspects of order pickups as assigned
- Process sales transactions accurately, including handling cash, card payments, and providing correct change.
- Balance the register drawer at the end of each shift.
- Learn and effectively use the POS system to manage orders and transactions.
- Ensure product displays are full, organized, and visually appealing to attract customers.
- Follow standard operating procedures for product rotation to ensure freshness and compliance with company guidelines.
- Answer phone calls professionally, transferring them to the appropriate team member or department as needed.
- Keep the workspace and customer service area clean, organized, and in compliance with health codes.
- Comply with all health code regulations related to food service and customer safety.
- Follow all relevant safety protocols to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on making the customer feel valued.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of initiative. Supervisory Responsibilities

Qualifications- A high school diploma, GED, or relevant experience is preferred but not required.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
- Frequently use hands and arms to handle, reach, grasp, lift, carry, push, or pull objects and products.
- Perform repetitive motions such as grasping, twisting, scooping, packaging, or operating a point-of-sale system.
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, climb, or reach above shoulder height to access storage areas or product displays.
- Frequently lift or move items up to 40 pounds independently and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance, using proper lifting techniques or team lifts.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to hear and speak clearly to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and leadership in a moderate to high noise environment.
- Work is primarily performed in a retail food service environment, including front-of-house, back-of-house, and cooler areas.
- Exposure to temperature variations ranging from cold coolers (as low as 34°F) to warm bakery environments (up to 85°F).
- Possible exposure to airborne particles such as flour, sugar, peanuts, and other potential allergens.
- May encounter wet or slippery floors; non-slip footwear and situational awareness are required at all times.
- Fast-paced, team-oriented environment requiring multitasking, attention to detail, and adherence to all safety and sanitation protocols.
- Must follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures as outlined in company policy and safety guidelines.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, aprons, and non-slip footwear is required when appropriate.
