The Town of Smithfield is seeking a skilled, compassionate, and experienced Social Worker to join its Human Services Department. This position provides clinical support, crisis intervention, and case management services to residents across the lifespan, including youth, families, adults, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
Working as part of a collaborative municipal team, the Social Worker assesses individual and family needs, responds to crises, connects residents with essential resources, and promotes stability, independence, and overall well-being within the community. This role is ideal for a public-service-oriented professional who values teamwork and is committed to making a meaningful impact in a municipal setting.
The position operates under the supervision of the Human Services Director. The work schedule is based on the department's day-to-day operational needs.
Weekly Schedule- Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm (with 1/2 lunch)
- Master’s degree in social work with licensure in accordance with the State of Rhode Island statutes
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional social work experience; public sector experience preferred
- Maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, community partners, stakeholders, and the public
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn and use departmental and municipal software systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
