Overview

Pay Range: $15.00-$20.39 an hour;
Part-time: 20 hrs a week.

Job Summary

As a teller, you will provide a range of banking services—processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, checks, and money orders—while promoting digital solutions and building member relationships. You will also support branch sales, customer service across multiple channels, and act as a branch expert in electronic services.

Responsibilities
  • Perform teller functions accurately and efficiently in accordance with established policies.
  • Maintain privacy and security of member account information.
  • Handle paying and receiving operations in person and for mail‑by‑bank transactions.
  • Process transfers, cash advances, traveler’s checks, cashier’s checks, money orders, and disburse cash or check share withdrawals.
  • Post CDs, HSAs, and IRA accounts.
  • Verify transactions, monitor deposit amounts, examine endorsement documents, and determine negotiability.
  • Detect and resolve discrepancies promptly and investigate out‑of‑balance conditions.
  • Make risk assessments of negotiable items within defined authority limits.
  • Balance daily transactions, verify cash totals, and investigate any cash imbalances.
  • Provide override approval for other tellers when applicable.
  • Deliver member service functions through sales and service activities.
  • Adhere to professional standards and uphold credit union’s reputation.
  • Identify member needs and cross‑sell credit union products, including deposit and loan services, to meet sales and baseline goals.
  • Record teller referrals and assist in new member onboarding as directed by branch management.
  • Resolve complex member transactions within authority limits and refer to leadership when necessary.
  • Handle member interactions via phone, mail, text, email, video, and self‑serve channels professionally.
  • Open and close accounts, process stop payments, and perform file maintenance and account changes.
  • Act as a branch expert in electronic services, cross‑selling digital services such as Online Banking, Mobile Banking, Card Guard, Bill Pay, and Mobile Deposit.
  • Assist with maintenance of self‑assist machines and video equipment, and report servicing issues to management.
  • Support members with account lockouts, Online Banking PIN/password resets, ACH, wire transfers, and other digital service needs.
  • Coordinate and maintain working relationships with area personnel and management.
  • Provide guidance to other teller service representatives and trainees as directed.
  • Keep supervisor informed of area activities and significant concerns.
  • Implement a individual 90‑day sales action plan to meet sales goals, receiving coaching from branch leadership.
  • Attend trainings, meetings, sales huddles, and branch activities as required.
  • Perform related clerical and receptionist duties as needed.
  • Adhere to branch safety, security, and teller audit procedures.

Training / Education / Certification

Eligible for on‑the‑job training and certification programs as required.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience Required
  • None necessary.
  • Previous retail sales or other similar financial institution experience preferred.
Skills / Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to assist others.
  • Strong sales awareness and ability to recognize and offer opportunities.
  • Professional appearance, dress, and attitude.
  • Solid math proficiency.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with related computer software and business equipment, including 10‑key, currency and coin counters, cash machines, self‑assist devices, video systems, iPad, and telephone.
