At Lees Marketplace, our Courtesy Clerks play a vital role in providing exceptional guest service at the front end of the store. This role focuses on bagging groceries carefully, assisting guests with loading items, retrieving carts, and keeping the front of the store clean and organized. Courtesy Clerks are the final point of contact with guests and help create a positive and lasting impression.

• Greet guests warmly and offer friendly, helpful service.
• Bag groceries carefully and efficiently, following food safety and weight distribution guidelines.
• Assist guests with carrying groceries to their vehicles.
• Retrieve carts from the parking lot and return them to the store in a safe and timely manner.
• Assist with general cleanliness of the front end, including spills, trash removal, sanitation procedures, and stocking bagging stations/check stands with needed supplies.
• Be of assistance to in any capacity necessary to ensure proper store and guest support.

• Greet and assist guests in a friendly and courteous manner, offering assistance in any way possible.
• Provide knowledgeable answers to guest inquiries.
• Promote and exemplify a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication with guests and team members.
• Provide excellent guest service by acknowledging guests promptly and attending to their orders accurately. Prepare and process the guest’s orders promptly and finalize their purchase in a friendly manner.
• Proactively ask each guest if they would like help taking their groceries to their car, and assist them promptly and respectfully when requested.
• Maintain awareness of guest needs in the checkout area and provide timely support to cashiers, rotating between each check stand as needed.
• Promptly respond to service codes requesting assistance at the check stands.
• Always be present on the frontend for guest assistance unless otherwise directed by a supervisor.
• Display excellent problem-solving skills and uphold the Lee’s Way—doing what’s best for our guests, our team, and our company.
• Be familiar with, and assist customers with use of, Lee’s Marketplace website and rewards program.

• Bag groceries with care, following proper bagging procedures to prevent damage and ensure food safety.
• Separate items such as raw meat, chemicals, and fragile products to avoid cross-contamination.
• Ensure heavy or bulky items are bagged appropriately and double-bagged when needed.
• Assist in returning go-backs or misplaced products to the correct shelves when assigned.
• Assist with product facing throughout the store as directed by a supervisor during slower periods. Maintain a clean, organized appearance that reflects a “grand-opening” standard of presentation.
• Report any damaged or leaking products to supervisors or remove them from circulation if instructed.

• Proactively collect carts from the parking lot and monitor for hazards to maintain a safe environment.
• Wear proper safety apparel when collecting carts.
• Routinely monitor carts, cart corrals, parking lots, and walkways for debris, trash, or hazards, and promptly remove or report them.
• Remove trash and keep bagging stations stocked and tidy throughout the shift.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
• Report any safety hazards or equipment issues to management.
• Contribute to department cleaning responsibilities as directed.

• Operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately.
• Follow store policies on returns, exchanges, and refunds.
• Ensure the security of cash and other financial transactions.
• Use POS and register system only when directed by the Frontend Manager/Supervisor.
