This position requires a broad range of hands‑on skills and the ability to identify problems, determine appropriate repair methods, and complete work safely, efficiently, and with a high level of quality.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, basic electrical repairs, flooring, doors and hardware, and general property maintenance. The Handyman / Maintenance Technician may work in homes and businesses that have experienced water, fire, or other property damage and must maintain a professional and respectful approach when working in customers' properties.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Perform general repairs, maintenance, and construction tasks at residential and commercial properties.
- Complete carpentry and general construction work, including wood repairs, trim, framing, sanding, drywall repairs, painting, staining, and other finish work.
- Perform basic plumbing repairs, including toilets, faucets, fixtures, drains, and minor leaks.
- Perform basic electrical repairs and maintenance, including light fixtures, light bulbs, switches, outlets, wiring, circuit breakers, and fuses, within the scope of applicable laws, codes, and company requirements.
- Repair, install, maintain doors, door frames, doorknobs, locks, cabinets, hardware, and other building components.
- Repair or replace damaged flooring, tile, baseboards, and other interior finishes.
- Perform general cleaning and preparation of work areas as needed.
- Assist with moving furniture, appliances, equipment, and other materials as necessary to complete assigned work.
- Inspect completed work to ensure repairs are safe, functional, and meet company quality standards.
- Properly use and maintain hand tools, power tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
- Follow all company safety procedures, manufacturer instructions, and applicable building codes and regulations.
- Protect customer property and maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
- Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, Project Managers, and other team members.
- Report job progress, material needs, additional repair requirements, and potential issues to the Project Manager.
- Maintain accurate documentation and complete required paperwork or job-related reporting.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Minimum of five (5) years of handyman, maintenance, construction, restoration, or related experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of general repair and maintenance practices.
- Working knowledge of multiple trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall, flooring, and basic electrical work.
- Ability to safely operate common hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Professional demeanor and ability to treat customers, coworkers, and company property with respect.
- Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends, or alternative shifts as business needs require.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
