Position SummaryWe are seeking an IT Enterprise Application Architect with expertise in Application Architecture to lead the design, governance and maintenance of the application strategy for Smithfield’s application portfolio. This role provides architectural leadership across the portfolio, drives application rationalization, plans for reduction of technical debt, and serves as a strategic advisor on platform and solution decisions.
What You’ll Do- Develop and maintain comprehensive application architecture roadmaps that align with business strategies and organizational priorities.
- Define standards, design principles, and best practices for application design, development, and integration.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, vendor platforms, and software solutions for enterprise adoption and provide architectural guidance on modernization initiatives.
- Lead the integration of complex systems, ensuring applications are scalable, secure, performant, and interoperable.
- Identify overlapping or redundant applications and create rationalization recommendations and roadmaps.
- Review application designs for adherence to enterprise standards and security protocols.
- Collaborate with business leaders, infrastructure architects, security architects, and IT teams to ensure alignment of technology with business initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited 4‑year college or university with 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Extensive experience in application development, integration, and architectural design.
- Deep understanding of cloud technologies, data architecture and software development life cycles (SDLC).
- Expertise in application portfolio optimization.
- Knowledge of orchestration tools to automate processes and services.
- Ability to analyze, translate, and define business requirements into technical solutions.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently with little supervision.
- TOGAF certification – a plus.
- Knowledge of SAP or JD Edwards ERP – a plus.
- Pay range: $115,000 - $150,000 annually.
