Overview

Responsible for integration of the nursing process to include, coordination/management of patient care and the organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating of Services provided with a core focus on Facility and associated departments. Provides leadership, direction and mentorship/support to the staffing needs for the designated specialty area(s). As a Clinical Expert, ensures the provision of clinically competent services by validating staff competency in the provision of a comprehensive range of services/care in accordance with standards of excellence, age-specific and cultural sensitivity established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans.

Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Strives for highest quality patient and resident care and satisfaction by allowing patients and other customers to guide services.
  • Utilizes reports and data from surveys, incident reports, variances, and benchmarks to improve services.
  • Demonstrates professional, collaborative, and positive interpersonal relations dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Regularly practices service excellence and serves as a role model to others.
  • Timely and appropriate follow up on occurrence reports and patient complaints (discussion with appropriate team members and submits information to Risk Management as needed).
  • Completes Rcare documents in a timely manner.
  • Engages in PI activities to include focus groups, PI teams, task forces, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Conducts scheduled face to face, periodic patient surveys.
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops employees to ensure high employee morale and professional atmosphere.
  • Provides ongoing constructive feedback and evaluation through department and facility rounding, employee meetings, and responding to teachable moments.
  • Ensures quality of health assessment services.
  • Provides Nursing support in the Admissions department.
  • Ensures that nursing care is appropriately documented and follow through occurs.
  • Identified issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Communicates department and RHS goals to team members and employees to include communication trackers.
  • Ensures compliance with all state, federal and accrediting body criteria for participation, licensure and accreditation.
  • Maintains positive physician relationships and assures integration in decision-making.
  • Shares the results of the nursing audit report on a regular basis with the Medical Director in an attempt to improve quality care.
  • Participates in professional activities, in-service programs, and committee assignments to enhance personal, professional, and institutional advancement for self and employees.
  • Completes and submits all required reports within specified time frames.
  • Completes established goals and objectives.
  • Develops, implements and analyzes productivity standards to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in department.
  • Manages staffing of units on a daily basis as well as planning for long term coverage.
  • Able to flex time in order to help needs of unit if unplanned coverage shortages occur.
  • Works with Supervisors and Staffing Assistant to ensure hospital coverage is maintained 24/7.
  • Responsible for Supervision and Nursing coverage if unable to fill or emergencies arise.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Required)
    • Masters Degree, Nursing (Required)
    • Doctoral Degree, Nursing (Required)
  • Experience:
    • 1 year RN Experience (Required)
    • 1 year Supervisory experience (Preferred)
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to plan, review, supervise, and inspect the work of others.
    • Proficient in computer applications to perform job duties.
    • Ability to perform nursing assessments and patient triage.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Licenses and

    Certifications:

    • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire (Required)
    • Specialty Nursing Certification (e.g., CMSRN, CCRN, etc.) Upon Hire (Preferred)
