The Tool Maker is a full-time, on-site role based in Smithville, TN on 2nd Shift
. This position is responsible for building, repairing, and maintaining tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in production, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and performance standards. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, setting up and operating manual and CNC machines, performing precision measurements, and troubleshooting tooling issues to support continuous production. The Tool Maker will collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to optimize tooling designs, reduce downtime, and improve manufacturing processes.

The role also involves preventive maintenance, documentation of work performed, and adherence to all safety and quality protocols.

• Build and repair die sections, jigs, and fixtures.
• Diagnose tooling issues and minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret blueprints and tooling drawings.
• Support production tooling and follow all safety and quality standards.

• Strong toolmaking and machining skills, including experience with manual mills, lathes, grinders, and CNC equipment.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Solid knowledge of metalworking processes, heat treatment, and materials used in tool and die manufacturing.
Ability to diagnose and repair tooling issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective countermeasures.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment with a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Basic computer skills for documentation, work order tracking, and use of maintenance or ERP systems.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across production, engineering, and maintenance.
• Relevant technical training or apprenticeship in Tool & Die, Machining, or a related field preferred
• Ability to stand, lift, and perform hands-on work for extended periods in an industrial setting.
• Willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as needed to support production schedules.
