Position: Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Smyrna, Delaware

Key

Qualifications:
  • Active certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Proficiency with assistive technology and adaptive materials for visually impaired students
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Flexibility to support learners across varying grade levels and needs
  • Knowledge of current best practices in special education
Responsibilities:
  • Assess students' functional vision and learning needs
  • Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to accommodate visual impairments
  • Provide direct and consultative instruction for students with visual disabilities
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related services providers, and families to ensure instructional success
  • Advocate for appropriate accommodations and resources to optimize learning
  • Document student progress and maintain compliance with all educational guidelines
  • Guide students in the use of Braille, large print, and assistive technologies
