Summary StatementThis position serves as the second Deputy Director for the Division of Public Health and reports to the Division Director. This Deputy Director provides executive leadership and programmatic oversight across key public health sections, including but not limited to Population Health, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Family Health Systems, and Oral Health and Dental Services. The role supports division‑wide planning, performance management, and policy implementation, oversees special projects, and collaborates with internal and external partners to advance population health priorities.
This position supervises section leadership and strengthens coordination across public health programs.
In the future, this position may relocate to Dover.
Job RequirementsJob Requirements for Deputy Principal Assistant:
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Public Administration, Nursing, Social Sciences, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in public health, healthcare administration, human services, or a related field.
- At least three years of supervisory experience overseeing professional or managerial staff.
- At least five years of experience managing complex programs, multi‑disciplinary teams, or large‑scale public health initiatives.
Applicants must demonstrate competence in the following areas:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be mission‑driven, strategic, and collaborative, and to achieve measurable results within a complex organization serving diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of public health systems, population health strategies, and program administration.
- Knowledge of federal funding, grant processes, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to manage and lead large, diverse, and multidisciplinary staff.
- Ability to foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
- Experience with strategic planning, performance management, and quality improvement.
- Ability to coordinate across programs and lead division‑wide initiatives and special projects.
