Attendant Chauffeur

Summary Statement

As Attendant Chauffeur for the DE Hospital for the Chronically Ill, you will be responsible for transporting physically, mentally, and developmentally disabled persons. This includes moving residents between their home, community treatment or recreational facilities, hospitals, and doctor’s offices. You may also be required to lift and otherwise assist disabled persons in and out of vehicles and other facilities, and will handle situations involving residents with disruptive behaviors.

The role involves routine maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and may include operating facility support service vehicles.

• Operate vehicles to provide inter‑community transportation for incapacitated persons and volunteer workers.
• Ensure seating and wheelchair restraints are appropriate to each person’s needs.
• Perform routine maintenance to maintain safe mechanical conditions and cleanliness of vehicles.
• Assist passengers with boarding and exiting vehicles and other facilities.
• May operate facility support service vehicles such as trash, laundry, or food trucks.

• Possession of a valid Driver’s License, not suspended, revoked, cancelled, or disqualified from driving.
