General
Purpose:
The Cost Accountant will own the period-end closing process, inventory valuation, royalty calculations, and execute various analytics and reconciliations. The Cost Accountant will need to be familiar with GAAP and balance sheet management.
Shift(s) Available:
- 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- N/A
Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
- Prepare inventory valuation reports for Accounting Manager review.
- Review product BOMs to ensure COGS accuracy.
- Research cost accounts and production routes to verify COGS and investigate variance accounts.
- Record and process estimated tax payments.
- Settle tax matters with various states.
- Complete month-end procedures and journal entries.
- Reconcile monthly bank statements for the operating, sales tax, and payroll accounts.
- Prepare reports for outsourcing sales tax returns.
- Manage monthly purchasing cards.
- Maintain relationships with other departments to be aware of financial impacts.
- Assist with forecasting and budget variance analysis.
- Respond to information requests from various departments.
- Prepare Excel schedules to post within the General Ledger.
Qualifications/
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate must have a thorough knowledge of accounting and GAAP compliance and will have had exposure to accounting in a manufacturing setting. This includes the ability to break down complex manufacturing and assembly routes to ensure cost accuracy. The candidate will need to be able to successfully analyze large volumes of data. The individual will need to be a self‑starter and will have to execute routine monthly tasks.
Our company utilizes Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&O, as well as Quick Books Desktop. This position works very heavily in Microsoft Excel and the candidate will need to have a proven understanding of advanced functions.
The position requires the ability to properly prioritize requests for regular reports and understand what information is being requested. This is not a remote position. Skills and Abilities:
- Accounting relevant to manufacturing.
- Cost Accounting is a plus but not required.
- Functional abilities within Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 and 365 F&O.
- Functional abilities within Quick Books Desktop.
- Prioritize and multi‑task numerous responsibilities.
- Ability to identify and effectively resolve issues/challenges.
- Excellent verbal and written communications.
- Ability to build rapport with teammates and other internal customers.
- Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Ability to process confidential information.
- Understanding/Speaking German is a plus but not required.
Education and/or
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Two or more years of accounting‑related experience and training. Microsoft Excel is required.
Licenses and
Certifications:
CPA is preferred, but not required.
