Job Title:
Accounting Director

Location:

Smyrna, GA (On-site)
Job Type: Full-time

Reports To:

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About the Company:

We are a growing company based in Smyrna, GA, in the early stages of building a strong financial foundation. As we evolve and modernize, we are seeking a hands-on Accounting Director to partner directly with the CFO in leading the transformation of our accounting function. If you're energized by challenges, change, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact - this role is for you.

Position Overview:

This is not a typical director role - we're looking for someone who can lead strategically and roll up their sleeves to clean up and rebuild accounting systems, processes, and reporting. The ideal candidate has experience in small or midsize companies, understands what strong accounting operations look like, and can help "right the ship" during a time of meaningful change.

You will play a vital role in preparing the company for scale, ERP implementation, and post-M&A integration - all while helping to define and implement best-in-class accounting practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key strategic partner to the CFO, helping to lead and execute accounting clean-up and transformation efforts.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations while working directly in the details when necessary.
  • Lead or assist in the selection and implementation of a new ERP system, replacing antiquated tools and workflows.
  • Help integrate and stabilize accounting functions post-mergers and acquisitions.
  • Design and implement new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal controls that support scalability and compliance.
  • Manage multi-entity and intercompany accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and consistency.
  • Bring a strong technical accounting foundation to guide team practices in accordance with GAAP.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve processes, enhance reporting, and support company-wide initiatives.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team as the company grows.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience, including recent experience in a small or midsize company environment.
  • Demonstrated success in cleaning up and modernizing accounting systems and processes.
  • Proven experience leading or supporting ERP implementations.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, especially post-close integration work.
  • Deep knowledge of accounting operations, GAAP, and internal controls.
  • Prior exposure to multi-entity structures and intercompany transactions is required.
  • Proficient in Excel and general ledger systems;
Quick Books experience is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving environment - adaptable, solutions-oriented, and hands-on.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, national origin, age, ancestry, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, or military or veteran status. We consider all qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with state and local laws, including the California Fair Chance Act, City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, and Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance.

For unincorporated Los Angeles county , to the extent our customers require a background check for certain positions, the Company faces a significant risk to its business operations and business reputation unless a review of criminal history is conducted for those specific job positions.
