Our client is seeking an experienced Instructional Design Specialist to join their Human Resources and Learning & Development team in Smyrna, GA. This temp-to-hire opportunity is ideal for a creative learning professional with experience designing engaging training programs, developing eLearning content, and administering Learning Management Systems (LMS). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design methodologies, adult learning principles, and curriculum development, with healthcare or pharmacy experience considered a plus.
This individual will partner closely with business leaders and subject matter experts to design, develop, implement, and maintain scalable learning solutions that enhance employee onboarding, compliance, and professional development while supporting organizational initiatives.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement engaging instructor-led, virtual, and self-paced learning programs using adult learning and instructional design best practices.
- Create and maintain comprehensive learning curricula, eLearning modules, storyboards, job aids, quick reference guides, videos, assessments, and facilitator guides.
- Develop and manage learning content within the organization's Learning Management System (LMS), including course creation, assignments, learning paths, certifications, user management, and reporting.
- Build structured onboarding programs that provide a consistent and engaging learning experience for new employees.
- Conduct learning needs analyses by collaborating with department leaders and subject matter experts to identify knowledge gaps and performance improvement opportunities.
- Translate complex operational procedures, workflows, and technical information into learner-focused training materials that improve knowledge retention.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, learner feedback, LMS reporting, and performance metrics, making continuous improvements to curriculum as needed.
- Maintain and update existing learning materials to ensure content accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with changing business processes.
- Support organizational change initiatives by developing training solutions for new systems, technologies, policies, and operational procedures.
- Partner with Quality, Operations, Compliance, and HR teams to ensure learning programs meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor employee training completion, certifications, and compliance through the LMS while generating reports for leadership.
- Stay current on instructional design trends, eLearning technologies, adult learning theory, and emerging learning tools to continuously improve the employee learning experience.
- Occasionally facilitate live classroom or virtual training sessions as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Learning & Development, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, learning & development, or corporate training.
- Experience designing and developing content for Learning Management Systems (LMS), including course creation, learning paths, reporting, and administration.
- Proficiency with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, or similar platforms preferred.
- Experience applying adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, Bloom's Taxonomy, Kirkpatrick Evaluation Model).
- Strong experience creating engaging digital learning content, instructor-led training materials, job aids, and multimedia resources.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts into learner-friendly content.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple learning initiatives simultaneously.
- Experience analyzing learning metrics and using data to improve training effectiveness.
- Healthcare, pharmacy, or regulated industry experience is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting compliance training and regulatory learning initiatives is a plus.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
