We’re seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented IT Operations Technician to support testing, configuration, and lifecycle management of enterprise server and storage hardware. Ideal candidates have experience in a data center or closely related settings (such as VARs, systems integrators, labs, or production infrastructure) and enjoy working directly with hardware, troubleshooting server and storage systems.
What You'll Do:- Test, configure, and validate enterprise server and storage hardware to meet technical and customer specifications.
- Support rack-mount and blade servers, SAN-based storage systems, and associated server-side networking components.
- Accurately document configurations, serials, and testing results in inventory and IT asset management systems.
- Assist with virtualization activities, supporting physical host setup, virtual machine validation, and storage/network connectivity.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, storage, and connectivity issues; respond to inquiries related to server and storage equipment.
- Provide technical input to sales and operations teams to support accurate solutions and post-sale success.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to server and storage equipment
- Contribute to process improvements and standards for testing environments.
Experience:
- Hands-on experience (3-5 years) with enterprise server platforms such as Dell, HPE, IBM, SUN, and Cisco UCS.
- Knowledge of rack-mount and blade server hardware (i.e., chassis, CPUs, memory, system boards, network cards (NICs), RAID, SAS drives, and related components.)
- Experience with server hardware repair including Storage Area Network (SAN) Systems.
- Experience supporting VMware and/or Hyper-V, including basic host setup and virtual machine support.
- Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
- Learn and use test equipment and tools in a lab / testing environment.
- Documentation skills to accurately record hardware, configuration, and testing data within an Inventory Management System (IMS).
- Certifications:
One of the following
:
CompTIA A+, Network+, or Storage+ (or equivalent) preferred. - Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
