Job DescriptionGTRI is currently seeking a Student Assistant to work under the guidance of GTRI researchers to manage the GTRI SEEDLab Makerspace at the GTRI Cobb County Facility in Smyrna, GA, starting Fall 2026. Duties will include:
- Set up new equipment for the SEEDLab space
- Maintain the SEEDLab equipment to keep everything in working order
- Maintain the SEEDLab space to keep it organized and usable
- Help train makerspace users on safety and use of equipment
- Help makerspace users with equipment issues as needed
- Help maintain the SEEDLab Confluence site
- Help GTRI employees with design for prototyping
Minimum Qualifications
Student Assistant
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar field
- Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
- 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Experience in 3D printing, laser engravers/cutters, woodworking equipment, etc.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Solid Works software
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to clearly communicate and train others
Up to 20 hours per week
U.S. Citizenship RequirementsDue to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position are required to be U.S. citizens.
